Koin wants your decks for the demo bots, plus weekly practice tournaments before the Crimson Cup

On 6 October Koin Games launched a challenge on the official Discord: build decks, send them through a form and the demo bots start playing them, with a "super secret prize" for the decks that perform best. In the same days Koin ran the first two weekly practice tournaments before the Crimson Cup, invited fans to host their own tournaments and shared new numbers: over 20,000 demo downloads and over 300,000 matches played.

Koin wants better decks for its bots

On 6 October, at 18:17 UTC, the Koin Games team posted "a little challenge" in #announcements on the official Discord: "We want to improve the decks our bots are using, so let's make a little game out of it". It works in four steps:

  1. build decks;
  2. submit them through the official form;
  3. the bots start using them in matches;
  4. "the best performing decks win a super secret prize".

You can send more than one deck and, in the team's words, "there aren't any rules": the goal is "to build the best decks possible".

Why it matters: in the Crimson Cup post of 5 October Koin wrote that most demo matches are against bots. The lists that come out of this challenge are the ones players will meet in those matches, in the weeks before the Crimson Cup.

How to take part

The announcement asks for nothing but the form: no deadline, no format, no limit on the number of decks. If you want a starting point:

  • build and check your list in our deck builder, which follows the demo's deck rules (one Legendary plus 12 base cards twice, 25 cards) and gives you the game code to copy;
  • look for ideas among the decks published on OriginsMeta, each with its guide and the community's votes;
  • since you can send more than one list, try different archetypes rather than betting on a single deck.

Weekly practice tournaments

The practice tournaments announced on 5 October have started. Koin had asked first: in a poll on 30 September, 265 of 293 voters (90%) said yes to practice tournaments without prizes.

  • Practice tournament #1, Saturday 3 October at 4pm CEST, announced on 2 October, was played with the Crimson Cup rules, so decks had to be submitted before the start (the format, and our Conquest guide).
  • Practice tournament #2, Saturday 10 October at 4pm CEST (14:00 UTC), announced in #game-announcements on 6 October, kept the same format as the first, five Swiss rounds, best-of-three matches and no elimination, but without Conquest: no decks to submit and a free choice of what to play. Sign-ups were in #tournaments-to-join.

On 6 October Koin also asked when players would rather play. The winning option, with 40% of the votes, was "Weekdays - evening EU time (7pm CEST, 1pm EST)". The day and time of the next practice tournament haven't been announced yet, and the results of the second one haven't been posted in the announcement channels.

Other tournaments, and hosting your own

On 8 October Koin pointed players to an Origins tournament hosted the same day at 4:30pm CEST by the Collector Club, a third-party site, which plans to run weekly tournaments on its own Discord, with sign-ups in its announcements channel.

In the same message the team added an open invitation: "If you're a fan of Origins and want to host your own tournaments, we would love to support you. Feel free to reach out so we can make it happen!" The message doesn't say what that support includes.

If you want to start right away, the Tournament Organizer of OriginsMeta is free for anyone signed in: single-elimination bracket, Conquest or free deck choice, best-of-one, three or five, decks submitted before the start, check-in and hidden decklists, public or private by invitation, with a short link to share. It doesn't run Swiss rounds yet.

The Building Origins AMA, on YouTube

The recording of the first Building Origins event, the AMA with Kevin and Ben, presented by Koin as the heads behind Origins, is on the official Origins TCG YouTube channel: "Building Origins AMA", published on 5 October 2026, 2 hours and 22 minutes long. What was said, from the ranked season dates to the reasons behind the 0.7 balance changes, is in our article on the AMA.

The demo in numbers

  • Over 20,000 downloads. The official X account wrote on 7 October that the demo "was downloaded over 20000 times already"; on 24 September it said 15,000.
  • Over 300,000 matches. On 29 September Koin Games founder and CEO Tim Jooste wrote that over 300,000 matches had been completed in the demo in 11 weeks, with almost 1,000 players past 20 hours of play.
  • 1,500 Crimson Cup sign-ups. On 1 October he added that 1,500 players had signed up for the Crimson Cup in three weeks.

These are Koin's figures: we have no way to check them.

What we don't know yet

  • How long the bot deck challenge runs: the announcement gives no deadline.
  • What the "super secret prize" is, and how many decks win it.
  • How "best performing" is measured (wins, win rate, number of matches) and whether the results will be published.
  • When the submitted decks start appearing in matches, and in which modes.
  • Whether "there aren't any rules" covers deck building too, or only how many decks you can send.
  • The day and time of the next practice tournament, whether it will move to the weekday evening slot the poll chose, and the results of the second one.

Where this comes from

  • The official Origins TCG Discord: the challenge in #announcements on 6 October 2026; the practice tournaments in #announcements (2 October) and #game-announcements (6 October), with the two polls; the Collector Club tournament and the invitation to host tournaments in #game-announcements (8 October); the first Building Origins event in #announcements.
  • The AMA recording on the official YouTube channel.
  • The posts on X by Origins TCG on 7 October and on 24 September, and by Tim Jooste on 29 September and 1 October.

Frequently asked questions

How do I submit a deck for the Origins TCG demo bots?
Through the form linked in Koin Games' announcement of 6 October 2026 on the official Discord (forms.gle/zY1WeRTPLQzKAEs26). You can send as many decks as you want: the bots start using them in matches and the best performing decks win a secret prize.
Is there a deadline or a known prize for the bot deck challenge?
Not yet. The announcement gives no deadline, doesn't say what the "super secret prize" is and doesn't explain how the best performing decks are chosen.
When are the Origins TCG practice tournaments?
They are weekly and announced on the official Discord. The first was on 3 October 2026 with the Crimson Cup rules, the second on 10 October at 4pm CEST without Conquest. In a poll on 6 October the community chose weekday evenings, European time (7pm CEST).
Can I organise my own Origins TCG tournament?
Yes. Koin Games invites fans who want to host tournaments to get in touch for support, and on OriginsMeta anyone signed in can create one with the Tournament Organizer, with Conquest or free decks and best-of-one, three or five matches.
