How to download and play Origins TCG free on Steam

What you get

Origins TCG has been free on Steam in Early Access since 27 October 2026, for Windows and macOS: that day update 0.8 ended the demo, which had been on Steam since 15 July 2026 (Koin's post). The review score was reset for Early Access: on 28 October 2026 the game page showed "Positive", 100% of 22 reviews. Matches take about seven minutes: both players move at once across three locations, drawn from a pool of more than a hundred that rotate and change the rules of the board.

Languages: since patch 0.7 of 29 September 2026 the game supports 13 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Spanish (Latin America). The Steam page, read on 28 October 2026, lists the same 13 for the interface, with full audio in English only.

Requirements

Five steps

1. Install Steam and sign in (a free account is enough).
2. Open the Origins TCG page and press the button to play for free: the game is Free To Play. Or search "Origins TCG" inside Steam. Installing takes a couple of minutes. If you played the demo, your account and collection are already in the Early Access version, and you can uninstall the demo.
3. Pick your language if Steam did not: right-click the game in your library, Properties, Language. The voice-over is in English; the other languages translate the interface and the texts.
4. Play the tutorial, then the missions: they teach the three lanes, the simultaneous turns and the keywords (On Reveal, On Death, First Strike, Double Attack, Deathtouch). Our five-minute guide covers the same ground in text.
5. Go online and try the preset decks. When you want more, read the decks published by the community, rebuild them in the deck builder and check the current card stats in the card database (patch 0.7 of 29 September 2026; the 0.8 patch notes mention no card changes).

What Early Access brings

Update 0.8 of 27 October 2026 is the first of Early Access. According to Koin Games' patch notes:

• Your progress carries over. "Your account, collection, progression, and everything else now live in the Early Access version of Origins." On the official Discord the studio head added that the demo can be uninstalled.
• Grandmaster is open. Players can advance into the Grandmaster Division, and the Grandmaster Leaderboard ranks them worldwide. The first ranked season of Early Access should end "sometime in early December", with limited-edition rewards for those who finish at the highest ranks: everything in our ranked guide.
• Graded cards. Collectible cards have a grade from 1 to 10, which now shows on the card through imperfections and effects: "very much a first pass", in Koin's words.
• Trading on the Steam Market. Collectible cards can be bought, sold and listed on the Steam Market, and starter gameplay cards remain yours to play with forever. Collectible cosmetics that are not cards are not tradeable yet: they will be in a future update. How it all fits together: how the Origins economy works.
• The road to 1.0. "0.8 isn't the finish line": the Steam page says Koin aims to leave Early Access "roughly March 17th, 2027", a date that may change.

The 0.8 patch notes mention no card changes: the stats in our card database are still those of patch 0.7.

From the demo to Early Access

The free demo arrived on Steam on 15 July 2026. Its first big update, on 21 September 2026, brought a new interface and board, a collectors tutorial, test packs, deckbuilding and the tentative Crimson Cup card list; patch 0.7 of 29 September was the final balance patch before the tournament and brought the game to 13 languages; ranked opened on 15 October, just before Steam Next Fest and the Crimson Cup. On 27 October 2026 the demo ended and Origins TCG moved to Early Access with update 0.8. New updates are announced on Steam and on the official Discord.
