Digital LGS Program: Origins TCG wants local game stores to host weekly tournaments and sell its sets

On 6 October Tim Jooste, founder and CEO of Koin Games, presented the Digital LGS Program on X: local game stores will host weekly Origins tournaments, sell store-only packs and promos and take pre-orders of collectible sets that will not be available in game. In-person events start in early 2027; Set 1 goes live on Kickstarter on 27 October, with stores involved in the launch.

The Digital LGS Program

On 6 October 2026 Tim Jooste, founder and CEO of Koin Games, published a long post on X with a short video. He describes an evening at your local game store (LGS) with nothing but your phone: a night of Origins matches against the players of your town, a store-exclusive promo to compete for and a booster of the next collector set to pre-order. The studio calls it the Digital LGS Program and, in his words, it makes Origins "the 1st digital card game to distribute sets through local game stores around the world".

That is the founder's claim, not something we can check. What the post does say clearly is the shape of the program: a digital card game with a physical network of stores that run its events and sell its sets.

What stores get and what players get

The post lists four things:

  • Local weekly tournaments, played at the store.
  • Exclusive in-person-only packs and promos: cards you only get by showing up.
  • Pre-orders of the upcoming collectible sets, which will not be available in game, with rewards for supporting your store.
  • And, as the post puts it, meeting real people, playing and making friends in person.

Stores interested in joining are invited to contact Jooste directly: his direct messages on X are open, and he offers a call.

Dates: early 2027, with the Kickstarter on 27 October

  • The in-person events officially start in early 2027. Stores, the post says, don't have to wait until then.
  • Set 1 goes live on Kickstarter on 27 October 2026: the same date the founder gave on 17 September and the demo shows in its menu (our Kickstarter guide collects everything confirmed so far). Unlike most card game campaigns, Jooste writes, Koin is working with local stores on the launch itself.
  • In two months the studio has already talked with more than 30 stores interested in joining.

Creators have a version of their own

The post adds that a version of the program exists for streamers and content creators, without details. The call to action is for players and collectors too: tag your favourite store or TCG creator under the post.

Why it matters

Origins has always described itself as free to compete and built for collectors: ranked play costs nothing and the collection lives on two tiers of cards, competitive and collectible. Until now the collectible side had only been announced in digital form: the Alpha Edition packs on Kickstarter, trading on the Steam Community Market; the only physical hint was the metal cards filmed in March. A store program gives it a physical place: the Tuesday-night tournament, the promo you can only win there, the set you pre-order at the counter. For a digital game it is also a way to find players where card games are already played.

Two caveats. The post is the founder's announcement, not an official page with terms and a list of stores, and nothing says yet how a digital set sold through a store works in practice. And if you want to run tournaments before 2027, you don't need to wait for the program: our tournament organizer is free and the community already uses it.

What we don't know yet

  • Which countries and stores take part, and whether there is a list.
  • How a digital set is distributed through a store: codes, physical packs with digital cards, or something else.
  • What "sets not available in game" means for the collection: whether those cards will exist only through stores.
  • Prices, the rewards for pre-ordering through a store and how the promos are awarded.
  • How the store tournaments are played (private rooms in the game, a dedicated mode) and whether results count anywhere.
  • The terms of the creator version.

Where this comes from

The post by Tim Jooste on X of 6 October 2026, with a 15-second video. As of 7 October there is no post about the program on the game's Steam page; we will update this article when Koin Games publishes the official terms.
