Origins TCG Kickstarter: date, pre-registration, Alpha Edition and what we know

The Origins TCG Kickstarter for the Alpha Edition opened on 27 October 2026: what is in it, the VIP pre-registration, the preorder-only boxes, the dates.

The campaign is on Kickstarter

The campaign opened on 27 October

The Kickstarter for the Myths & Legends Alpha Edition opened on 27 October 2026: Koin Games announced it on Steam at 17:02 UTC with the post "The Origins Kickstarter is LIVE", the same day Origins TCG moved to Early Access. The Alpha print run of the "Myths & Legends" set is exclusive to Kickstarter, and the set has 218 cards "that we'll gradually release throughout early access", in Koin's words. The eight reward tiers are in our article on the tiers, and the link to the campaign is in the box at the top of this page.

The date had come from Koin Games' CEO, Tim Jooste, who wrote "back the Alpha Edition Kickstarter (Oct 27th)" in a post on X of 17 September 2026, which the studio's account shared. On 25 September 2026 the main menu of the demo also showed the Kickstarter box with "Coming soon – Oct 27" and "Preregister for 15% off", while the loading screen advertised the Alpha Edition.

Update of 30 October 2026: added the Alpha promos and the stretch goals, with Koin's official images, and the closing date of the campaign, 2 December 2026.

Update of 28 October 2026: the campaign has been live since 27 October, the day the demo ended and Origins TCG moved to Early Access. The update of 28 September had confirmed the date given by Koin Games' CEO; the one of 25 September had added the date shown in the demo, the topics of the AMA from the official announcement and the corrected timeline.

What has been announced

Koin Games runs an official Kickstarter Early Access page at founder.origins-tcg.com. On 10 September 2026 the team answered questions about the campaign in an AMA on the official Discord; the announcement of the next day lists the topics: digital grading, card rarity, how trading works, error cards, God packs, tournament 1/1s, what the Alpha set is, the Kickstarter tiers and how to become a VIP with 15% off. Our news on the AMA sums it up.

Pre-registration: 15% off for 1 dollar

  • Becoming a VIP with a 1 dollar deposit unlocked 15% off at launch.
  • The deposit was fully refundable before launch, as stated twice on the official page.
  • Pre-registration did not commit you to a pledge: it only reserved the early-bird price.

The Alpha Edition

The product line is called Origins Myths & Legends Alpha Edition:

Product Contents
Collector booster pack 5 collectible cards, at least one Rare or better guaranteed
Booster box 24 collector packs
Booster case 6 booster boxes

For the Alpha Edition, boxes and cases are preorder only: once that print run is finished, no additional Alpha boxes or cases will be produced. That is the same logic as a first-edition print run in physical card games, applied to a digital collection.

The Alpha promos and the stretch goals

The Alpha Edition promo cards have alternate art, different from the cards in the game, and Koin shows them in their grading case. On 30 October 2026 Koin Games added the images to its media kit for creators, and the campaign page says which tier includes which promo. The Alpha Alt-Art Promo Box, for every backer from the Apprentice tier up, starts with an alternate-art Van Helsing and gains cards with the stretch goals; Koin writes that these cards "will never be distributed again after this Kickstarter ends". The other stretch goals are about the game:

On 30 October 2026 the campaign page showed the goals up to $750,000 as completed, Mulan included. If every promo goal up to $4.75 million is reached, the box holds 20 alternate-art cards, as Koin writes. The tiers add more promos: Golden Slab Promos from Hero, the Wizard of Oz set from Icon, numbered portraits in the Myth tiers and signed ones in the Legend tiers. Here they are, with the images Koin has published.

Trading and ownership

Since update 0.8 of 27 October 2026 collectible cards can be bought, sold and listed on the Steam Market; the official page also mentions connected marketplaces. Koin moved to the Steam marketplace earlier this year instead of an independent on-chain system. Mobile pack opening is planned for 2027.

Free-to-compete stays free

Backing the Kickstarter buys collectibles, not strength: ranked play in Origins needs no purchase, and the game itself is Free To Play on Steam, in Early Access since 27 October 2026. See Is Origins TCG pay to win? for how the competitive side and the collector side stay separate.
