The playtest closes on 15 October
On 14 October the Koin Games team opened its announcement on the official Discord with sad news: the playtest "is leaving us tomorrow", so the playtest build closes on 15 October. In its words, players "played over 100k matches" on it and "helped us a lot". The 0.7.1 update of 8 October was its last patch notes.
With the playtest gone, an update is coming to the main demo, the free one on Steam that our demo guide covers. Koin says it "should make most of you very happy" but doesn't say what it contains, so we won't guess: we'll cover it when the patch notes are out.
Koin also warned that "these are BIG WEEKS for Origins", with more announcements to come. The calendar is in our Steam Next Fest guide: ranked and the Crimson Cup start with the festival on 19 October, and the Alpha Edition Kickstarter is due on 27 October.
A Twitch channel for the Crimson Cup, and the Kickstarter page
Koin has opened a new official Twitch channel, where it "will broadcast ALL Crimson Cup events", and asks players to follow the Kickstarter preview page before the campaign goes live. Both links are in the announcement on the official Discord. The qualifier dates and the prize pool are in our Crimson Cup article.
Co-streaming the Crimson Cup
Anyone can co-stream the Crimson Cup or stream their own matches. Besides the official broadcast of every event, there are two ways to cast it yourself:
- re-stream Koin's official broadcast;
- spectate other streamers directly.
Koin would like to work with a few Twitch streamers to reach more people, and asks anyone planning to stream a Crimson Cup event to tell it through the form linked in the announcement, so it can coordinate.
If you stream with a tournament deck, OriginsMeta has free tools for it: a short link to say on stream, the !deck chat command and an OBS overlay with your three decks, all explained in our streaming guide.
The rulebook update: tech issues and deck tracking
Koin added a short section to the Crimson Cup rulebook, on page 8, with clearer guidance on how to handle tech issues and deck tracking. The announcement doesn't summarise it: if you're playing a qualifier, read that page before your matches. The format, with three decks and Conquest, is in our article on the Crimson Cup rules.
What we don't know yet
- What the main demo update contains, and when it arrives.
- The exact wording of the new rulebook section.
- Which streamers Koin will partner with for the broadcasts.
Where this comes from
- The announcement by the Koin Games team on the official Origins TCG Discord, 14 October 2026, with the links to the Twitch channel, the Kickstarter preview page, the co-streaming form and the rulebook.
