Spooky Season - Dracula Time

by puzzleboxtcg @puzzleboxtcgCreatorYouTube (opens in a new tab)

Game plan

Typically, I always ban Van Helsing. Dracula is better at dealing with the most aggressive decks, having very powerful and consistent plays on early turns with large bodies as long as you mulligan properly, and also playing Rain of Arrows to ensure early aggro decks are answerable. Van Helsing is most powerful into the more midrange matchups, having good healing to reduce the impact of their units and unconditional removal with Dark Omen and Forbidden Knowledge. Three Not So Little Pigs are strongest against slower control decks due to the ability to burst down a barrier early with Glinda.

The three decks

Deck A · Discard

Xerox Discard · Dracula (Legendary)

Role in the set

This Discard Dracula build was designed to have the most consistent discards possible. This means forgoing Ugly Duckling to ensure that our Quasimodo is always going to discard Esmeralda (Or Aladdin, as long as we don't draw our 2nd Quasimodo or Asanbosam). It also means playing a lot of 5 drops so that Captain Ahab always discards Koschei if we've drawn him.

Deck B · Control

Helsing Heal · Van Helsing (Legendary)

Role in the set

A fairly typical Van Helsing Control list, however it is notably lacking in win conditions. This is because I always ban opposing Van Helsing if my opponent brought it, so I plan to be able to out-grind any other deck in the format with this list. The main goal is to 2-for-1 your opponent on card advantage as much as possible and get value from Spellbook until you just have too much health for your opponent to chew through.

Deck C · Combo

Glinda Pigs · Three Not So Little Pigs (Legendary)

Role in the set

Typical Glinda combo deck. Your main goal is to get Glinda plus a couple spells in hand and then set up to play Glinda on a turn when your opponent reveals first, and then play your spell storm on your turn before they can interact with your Glinda.

Conquest rules

Three different Legendaries and at least 8 different unique cards between any two decks, as in the Crimson Cup.

  • A and B: 11 different cards
  • A and C: 12 different cards
  • B and C: 12 different cards
