Top 24 Crimson Cup Playoffs Lineup

by BDB @boutdebois-ms

Game plan

The lineup focuses mainly on aggressive decks, which can struggle against control decks with a lot of healing.

The main plan during the Conquest ban phase is to ban your opponent’s most controlling deck: Van Helsing or Merlin (Van Helsing if they play both).

Apart from that, all matchups are more or less 50/50.

The three decks

Deck A · Midrange

Legion Midrange · Legion of the Dead (Legendary)

Role in the set

The main goal of the deck is to use “good cards” with a high value-to-cost ratio, which makes them difficult to remove, while still being able to control some threats if necessary with cards like Baby Bear, Impudunlu or En Passant.

In most games, your goal will be to play one of these lines to take down a barrier quickly:

Then you will use cards like En Passant and Impundulu to bring a second barrier down to 10 and finish it with Obliterate.

If you don’t play in Conquest format, you can replace Bagheera with Roo.

Deck B · Swarm / go wide

Piggie Swarm · Three Not So Little Pigs (Legendary)

Role in the set

The goal of this deck is to maintain a good number of small creatures on the board and buff them as much as possible with Glinda to finish off your opponent quickly.

The main combo is Sandman on turn 2, then Glinda plus all your spells on turn 3. If you’re able to do that with enough cards on the board, the game is almost won. You then just have to finish with Impundulu and Ellen.

I chose Ellen over Obliterate because it can be played one turn earlier, and you can play Ellen and Lightning Strike with 10 mana. Both cards can be used here, though. You just need a finisher in case your opponent is able to clear your board too quickly.

Deck C · Aggro

Robin Hood Face · Robin Hood (Legendary)

Role in the set

With this deck, you put all your effort into one lane, often being able to bring it down to 0 with all your Trample and Snipe effects. Then you can bring another lane down to 10 and finish it with Obliterate.

Common starts:

I feel like this is one of the decks that make the best use of Rumple, since playing Hyde, Marian, Guy of Gisborne or Obliterate one turn earlier puts a lot of pressure on your opponent.
Also, being able to take a barrier in two turns with just Guy of Gisborne and Obliterate is really nice.

Conquest rules

Three different Legendaries and at least 8 different unique cards between any two decks, as in the Crimson Cup.

  • A and B: 10 different cards
  • A and C: 9 different cards
  • B and C: 12 different cards
